Period Poverty Campaign

Project Type: Awareness and Support Campaign
Deliverables: Bespoke Icons, Posters, Leaflets
I don’t often take on a project that isn't a logo/identity but when I was approached to create posters and leaflets for ‘Period Poverty’, I was very excited about the challenge. (side note: I do design these collateral pieces as part of a logo project when required)
After a discussion with the project lead, we agreed that we didn’t want a stereotypical campaign that featured sanitary products. But instead, to put the focus on the people who will be the target audience. Their individuality, friendships, ages, and most importantly for the focus to be placed on ‘equality’ rather than ‘poverty’.
After exploring some initial concepts we settled on a colourful design with silhouettes for an element of anonymity, and inspired by current pop culture.
The typography is solid and strong so easily legible and the colour palette is fresh and young (with no red or pink in sight!!!).
Never one to miss an opportunity to create a logo, we decided to develop icons that can be used as easy identifiers on publications, dispensers and locations as required.
The icons are inspired by drops, balance and a location marker.
Although not a typical ‘logo’ project, all of the principles of good branding are present within the design through the icons and palette.

“Kilkenny One-Parent Community aims to amplify the voices and increase visibility of one parent families in a positive and empowering way…”
From our initial discovery call we required a strong logo to mirror the amazing people leading this community.
After exploring several differing concepts the same few words kept emerging:- pathway, united, connection, strong.
On our journey to find a story and an easily recognisable logo we decided to strip the logo back, removed all symbols and focused on a dynamic monogram. The letters KOPC are gently flowing into one another echoing the connection and support of the group.
The colour palette contains a strong rust balanced by a dusty blue. These colours solidify the ‘strength’ elements. A mustard yellow is also included for when the group wants to add an extra punch to their designs.
