8 Don’ts when creating your logo in Canva

  1. DON’T GO FOR AN ILLEGIBLE FONT

Don’t use a script font. It will be very difficult to read when scaled down or viewed from a distance.

  2. DON’T CHOOSE A COMPLICATED IMAGE

Use an image or icon with more than one colour. A strong logo is solid in either it’s line or weight.

  3. DON’T OVERLAP ELEMENTS

Don’t overlap your images and/or typography as this will make your design more obscure and very difficult to read/view.

  4. DON’T CHOOSE MULTIPLE COLOURS

Don’t use ore thane one colour in your logo as this will complicate the design needlessly if not applied correctly (designers spend a long time ensuring multiple colours work well together under a variety of circumstances).

  5. DON’T RELY ON ONE VERSION OF YOUR LOGO

Don’t rely on just your colour logo. It is good to change up your logo use every so often so a full white and full black logo placed on a colour background is a nice change at times.

  6. DON’T USE COLOURS TOO BRIGHT

Don’t use yellow! It will blend into any white background and become lost very quickly.

  7. DON’T USE LIGHT LINES

Don’t use light delicate lines that are difficult to see when small or from a distance.

  8. DON’T OVERCOMPLICATE

Don’t overwork your design. Less is often more!
