8 Do’s when creating a logo in Canva

  1. KEEP THE TYPOGRAPHY SIMPLE

Choose a font that is clean and clear (e.g. Open Sans, Josefin Sans). If you want to go for a more ornate typeface then choose a solid serif font (e.g. Card, Cormorant Garamond)

  2. KEEP YOUR IMAGES UNFUSSY

Use a solid line or solid shape within your design. You can group elements together but do ensure that they carry the same aesthetic (line weight, solid etc)

  3. WHITE SPACE

Let each element breathe. White space is your friend and fundamental to ensuring a design is clearly visible.

  4. ONE COLOUR

Use ONE colour as your logo colour (a colour with black is OK also).

  5. COLOUR CHOICES

Choose a mid-range colour (not too dark and not too light) as your primary logo colour. This will help the logo work well placed on a dark and light background (important for versatility going forward).

  6. CREATE WHITE AND BLACK LOGOS

Ensure you create a save all black and all white versions of your logo. These look great on a solid colour background for when you want a little change.

  7. LINE WEIGHT

Within your images and your typography choose lines that carry some weight. Even delicate designs need lines with enough weight to ensure visibility.

  8. K.I.S.S. Keep.It.Simple.St***d

Don’t overwork your design. Less is often more!
